What does a medical tourism facilitator actually do?

You're the bridge between patients who need care and hospitals that provide it. Here's what a typical day looks like.

Identify Patient Needs

A patient or their family reaches out — they need treatment abroad. You assess their condition, medical records, and preferences (budget, destination, timeline).

Match With the Right Hospital

Using the M1H network, you compare accredited hospitals across multiple countries and present the best options for their specific case.

Coordinate the Journey

Visa letters, appointment scheduling, medical record transfers, travel logistics — you manage the process so the patient can focus on their health.

Support Before, During & After

From departure to treatment to recovery — you're the patient's advocate. Post-treatment follow-up ensures continuity of care back home.

Track & Manage Cases

Every case is managed through the RPS platform — inquiries, hospital responses, treatment status, and commission tracking in one place.

Earn on Every Referral

When your patient completes treatment, you earn 5–15% of the total treatment cost. Commissions are tracked automatically and paid monthly.

Feeling overwhelmed? Don't be. Your dedicated RPM walks you through your first cases step by step — from initial patient inquiry to hospital selection to payment. You learn by doing, with an experienced partner beside you.

People from every background are becoming medical tourism facilitators

There is no single "type" of facilitator. What they share is a commitment to helping patients access better care.

HEALTHCARE BACKGROUND

The Nurse Who Kept Getting Asked

Patients and families regularly asked her about treatment options abroad — especially for cancer, cardiac, and orthopaedic cases. She turned those conversations into a professional facilitation practice.

TRAVEL INDUSTRY

The Travel Agent Who Added Healthcare

Already booking flights and hotels, her clients started asking about medical procedures abroad. She added healthcare coordination as a premium service — and it became her highest-margin offering.

ENTREPRENEUR

The Entrepreneur Who Saw the Gap

He noticed people in his community travelling to India and Turkey for treatment with no professional guidance. He got certified, built a facilitation business, and now helps 10+ patients a month through the M1H network.

CAREER CHANGER

The Professional Who Pivoted

After years in pharmaceutical sales, she had the healthcare knowledge and the professional network — but no way to use them independently. She got certified and turned her industry experience into a facilitation practice serving clients across three corridors.

Diaspora & Community

Community Connector

You're part of a diaspora or community that travels for healthcare. Your network already trusts you — M1H gives you the platform to help them access world-class care

Based on real partner stories

Whether you come from nursing, travel, business, or any other background — the CHWTP certification provides the same foundational training and the same business infrastructure. No prior medical tourism experience required. The only thing that matters is your commitment to helping patients access better care.

What can you realistically earn?

5–15% of total treatment cost per referral

Earnings depend on the destination, hospital, and complexity of the procedure. A single referral for a complex case like cardiac surgery or oncology treatment can generate a significant commission. As your volume grows, you progress through partner tiers (Bronze to Platinum) with increasing bonus rates. Most new partners who actively work with their RPM complete their first successful referral within 30–60 days of joining.

  • Existing hospital relationships discussed individually $500–$900
  • Cardiac surgery (Turkey) $1,200–$2,500
  • Oncology treatment (Thailand) $1,500–$4,000
  • Fertility / IVF (UAE) $400–$1,200
  • Cosmetic surgery (Turkey) $300–$800
  • Dental implants (Mexico) $200–$500

Illustrative ranges based on typical treatment costs and blended 8–10% commission midpoint. Actual rates are confirmed during onboarding with your RPM.

Different markets, different opportunities. Here's where new facilitators are growing fastest.

Different markets, different opportunities. Here's where new facilitators are growing fastest.

Fastest growing

Africa & South Asia

Underserved facilitator network, fastest-growing patient outbound markets. Strong opportunity for new entrants.

Nigeria, Kenya, Pakistan, Bangladesh — high unmet demand for international referral infrastructure.

Established

Middle East

Mature demand for European, Asian, and US treatment options. Established facilitator infrastructure.

UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait — premium treatment-seeking with strong existing referral culture.

Different dynamics

Western markets — US, UK, Canada, Europe

Affluent patients seeking lower cost or faster access abroad. Different opportunity dynamics, equally valuable.

NHS-frustrated UK patients, cost-driven US patients, wait-time-avoiding Canadians and Australians — elective and specialist procedures.

Every market

Wherever you are

Your regional partner manager helps you identify and develop your local opportunity — wherever you're based.

My 1Health operates globally. No market is too new, too small, or too unfamiliar to start.

What you need to start — and what you don't

The barriers to entry are lower than you think. The only real requirement is commitment.

What you DO need

  • Commitment to actively helping patients access care abroad
  • Willingness to learn — the CHWTP certification teaches everything from the ground up
  • Access to a community of people who travel (or would travel) for healthcare
  • Basic communication skills and empathy — you're an advocate for patients at their most vulnerable

What you DON’T need

  • A medical degree or healthcare background
  • Prior medical tourism facilitation experience — the programme is built for first-time facilitators
  • Existing hospital relationships or contracts
  • Technology, CRM, or case management software
  • A large team or office — many facilitators start as solo operators
  • Upfront capital beyond the $199 certification fee

The hospitals are already in the network.

You just need to connect your patients.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? Our team is available to help.
Do I need healthcare or medical experience?

No. The CHWTP certification teaches everything from the ground up — industry knowledge, hospital accreditation, patient management, ethics, and coordination. People from travel, nursing, business, and entrepreneurial backgrounds all start from the same foundational modules. The only prerequisite is a genuine commitment to helping patients access care abroad.

How much does it cost to get started?

The CHWTP certification is currently $199 for the founding cohort (standard price: $499). This is your only upfront cost. There are no additional platform fees, subscription charges, or hidden costs. When you pass, you receive full access to 350+ hospitals, the RPS platform, a dedicated RPM, and all marketing materials — included in the certification fee.

How long before I earn my first commission?

Most new partners who actively work with their RPM complete their first successful referral within 30–60 days of passing the certification. The timeline depends on your market, your network, and how actively you pursue patient referrals. Your RPM will help you identify the best corridors and hospitals for your first cases.

Can I do this part-time alongside my current job?

Yes — many facilitators start part-time while maintaining their current income. The CHWTP course is self-paced (most complete it in 4–8 weeks at 5–7 hours per week). After certification, you can manage referrals around your existing schedule. As your volume grows, many partners transition to full-time facilitation.

Can I add this to my existing business - travel agency, clinic or consultancy?

Yes. Many partners run medical tourism facilitation as a service within their existing business — travel agencies, healthcare consultancies, wellness practices, and insurance brokerages. My 1Health operates as your back-office infrastructure. Patients see your brand, not ours. You can offer healthcare travel coordination as a premium add-on to your current services without setting up a separate entity.

I am based in a destination country (India, Thailand, Turkey) - can I still join?

Absolutely. Many of our partners operate in destination countries, coordinating both inbound international patients arriving for treatment and outbound referrals to other destinations. If you're based in India, for example, you can help international patients access hospitals in your city while also referring Indian patients to facilities in Turkey, Thailand, or the UAE. Your local hospital knowledge and language skills are significant advantages.

How and where do I get paid?

My 1Health pays commissions to 160+ countries in USD or your choice of 140+ local currencies. You also get a built-in USD wallet where you can hold your earnings and withdraw whenever you choose, with a minimum withdrawal of $250. Commissions are reconciled monthly with full transparency through the RPS platform.

What if something goes wrong with a patient's treatment?

All hospitals in the My 1Health network carry professional indemnity insurance, and the network is composed of JCI, NABH, and TEMOS-accredited facilities. If a clinical complication arises, My 1Health provides case escalation support — working directly with the hospital on your behalf. You are never left to manage a clinical issue alone. Your RPM is your first point of contact for any case escalation.

Is the programme available in languages other than English?

The CHWTP programme is currently delivered in English. Arabic and French localisation are planned for later this year, with additional languages to follow based on partner demand. If English is not your first language, many of our partners complete the programme successfully — the content is written in clear, accessible English and your RPM can provide support in your preferred language during onboarding and case management.

I'm already a facilitator with experience. Is this page for me?

If you're already operating with your own hospital relationships and patient base, our Established Facilitators pathway may be a better fit — no certification required, flexible terms, and a different onboarding process designed for experienced operators.
